About us

A madrasa built on Tawheed and Sunnah

We are a community madrasa in Mouraria, Lisboa, welcoming boys aged 5 to 18 and girls aged 5 to 13.

Our vision

Welcome to Madrasa Darul Uloom Mouraria. It is firstly by the will of Allah, and with the support of our community, that we are achieving success day by day. Our vision is to continue to grow and play a leading role in inspiring a harmonious community rooted in the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. We envision a society where individuals, regardless of background or age, flourish in their religiosity, education, and community endeavours.

Educate, Empower, Share

Educate

Providing unique and meticulously designed educational programmes. Our curriculum is tailored to instil in our students a firm grounding in, and understanding of, Islam and culture. We inspire individuals, young and old, with knowledge, guiding them towards personal and academic excellence.

Empower

Fostering a sense of empowerment within our diverse community, to encourage active participation in local and global initiatives. We hope to inspire others through Islamic principles, instilling values of compassion, love, and service not only within our community but humanity.

Share

Spreading the word of Islam and engaging in missionary activities throughout Portugal. Through our outreach efforts, we aim to bring the beauty of Islam and share the message of Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) and the Sunnah (Prophetic Traditions) with people of different backgrounds.

An inclusive learning environment

Madrasa Darul Uloom Mouraria welcomes boys aged 5 to 18 and girls aged 5 to 13, ensuring an inclusive and collaborative environment. We organise students into groups based on age and proficiency levels, enabling us to provide individual attention and specialised instruction tailored to their needs.

Development from beginners to proficiency

Students begin with foundational knowledge and skills, advancing step by step to mastery in Quranic recitation and Islamic studies.

Supportive learning

Teachers provide individualised support to address the unique needs of each student, fostering confidence and motivation.

Community engagement

We encourage students to engage in activities that connect them with their peers and the wider community, reinforcing a sense of belonging and responsibility.

Our policies

These expectations keep the madrasa a calm and focused place of learning for every child.

A message to parents and guardians

Parents are advised to facilitate and support their child in their Quran homework regularly. A set time should be dedicated for homework and observed consistently. Parents should also listen to their child's lesson once it has been learnt. Parents must check their child's madrasa planner at the end of each month, signing it and commenting if necessary. Teachers comment on overall progress throughout the month, so it is important that parents read the comments and maintain good communication via the madrasa planner.
